Novos Equipamentos da Selecção dos EUA
Apesar de não ser habitual este tipo de tópicos, queria saber se o problema é só meu ou se mais alguém concorda comigo.

Há comentários do género: "lame lame lame!" ; "They look like nurses uniforms.."; " so ugly...".
Muito sinceramente acho estes equipamentos muito bonitos. Quando os vi apenas em exibição, sem as jogadoras os usarem, estava um pouco receosa em relação à maneira como estes ficariam às atletas (principalmente à Abby Wambach), mas surpreendeu-me bastante o design destes equipamentos que ficam bem a qualquer jogadora, como podemos ver.
Eu adorei, se pudesse comprava já uma. E vocês?

Jogo Amigável - Resultado
Inglaterra 2-1 EUA
Golos: Clarke 8', Yankey 27'; Rapinoe 39'
Classe inglesa dita resultado.
Ao fazer um jogo fenomenal, a Inglaterra bate o recorde espectacular da selecção dos EUA que já não perdia em amigáveis à 52 jogos.
Com este resultado a Inglaterra, ao fim de 22 anos, consegue derrotar a selecção americana ao fazer uma exibição de alta qualidade na 1º primeira parte e de muita segurança e capacidade defensiva na 2º.
Apesar do domínio de jogo na 2º parte, os EUA não foram capazes de bater a gr. Karen Bardsley que teve uma noite inspiradora.
De salientar a entrada da guarda-redes Hope Solo, na 2º parte, que esteve fora dos relvados durante vários meses após ter sido operada ao ombro.
Fara Williams, jogadora inglesa, foi nomeada a melhor jogadora em campo. (totalmente merecido!)

Associação Canadiana de Futebol faz oferta a Carolina Morace.
The Canadian Press is reporting that the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has made an offer to women's soccer head coach Carolina Morace in hopes that she will stay with the team at least until the London Olympics.
As was reported on this blog, Morace had threatened to leave the team after the upcoming World Cup in Germany due to a series of ongoing tensions between Morace and the CSA. The proposal that was given to Morace apparently includes monetary compensation for the women's team. The other elements of the proposal were not released, nor were details concerning the amount of compensation offered. The team had previously boycotted international competitions in support of their coach while also simultaneously retaining a lawyer to pursue an arbitration with CSA to ensure that they were being compensated equal to the men's team.
The women's athletes, they alleged, received less compensation for competing in international events than the men's team members did, even though the women's team has a much higher international ranking. They also complained, and this seemed to be their more pressing concern, that their compensation was unpredictable. While the men's team know how much they would be paid per international appearance, there was no such arrangement in place for the women, which left them unable to plan for their personal expenses.
It will be interesting to see if Morace accepts the proposal from CSA and whether or not the proposal also is able to resolve the ongoing dispute between CSA and the women's national team.

Katie Chapman deixa futebol internacional por tempo indeterminado
A média vai fazer uma pausa do futebol internacional.
A jogadora de 28 anos informou a seleccionadora Hope Powell da sua decisão antes da equipa se reunir para o jogo de Sábado para o jogo com a selecção dos EUA no Estádio Matchroom.
Chapman tem 82 internacionalizações e 8 golos marcados, o seu golo mais recente foi contra a Espanha em Abril passado.
Ela foi um membro essencial na equipa da Inglaterra que participou nos 3 torneios principais, sendo eles: O Euro 2005 e 2009 e o Mundial em 2007.
No entanto, irá continuar a jogar pelo Arsenal durante esta paragem a nível internacional.

Natasha Dowie, avançada do Everton irá substituir Chapman na actual equipa.

Tasha Kai Q+A: ‘Sexy soccer’ has arrived in Philadelphia
Have you been wondering just what one of the toughest players in the WPS has been up to? If your answer is yes, then we’re both talking about Tasha Kai. Sometimes known as the “bad girl” of soccer, Kai has become a striker for the Philadelphia Independence after having spent the past two seasons playing for Sky Blue FC in New Jersey.
Kai took time out of the busy pre-season training to answer some questions about being a part of the Independence and the path that got her there.
About the pre-season:
Nell Enriquez: How have your first few weeks of being part of the Independence been?
Tasha Kai: I feel really great here. I mean the whole squad is great. I had two rough years and I can love soccer again. I feel great as a player and as a person.
NE: How do you feel about the team being called the “cheesesteaks”?
TK: I’m a vegetarian, so I don’t really like cheesesteaks but I guess that’s just our team name. We have a fan base called the cheesesteaks. It’s just fun you know, to our fans. You know they wear cheesesteak hats!

A bit about how you got to here:
NE: I heard that when you were younger you hurt your foot so bad that you were told you may not be able to play. Is that true?
TK: Oh yeah, it was when I was five. My family and I went to the beach. Me and my family were running on the sand and playing tag or what not and I stepped on a broken glass beer bottle and it clipped my heel off my foot. Cut all the veins, arteries – everything. I was in a boot for like nine months and the doctors said I wouldn’t be able to walk straight again. I have a scar on my foot still. But you know it didn’t stop me from doing what I wanted to do. I just continued being me and being active and stuff.
