Kelley O'Hara substitui a lesionada Lindsay Tarpley na convocatória para o Mundial.
Midfielder Kelley O’Hara has been named to the United States roster for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, replacing Lindsay Tarpley who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee on May 14 against Japan.

The 22-year-old O’Hara won the 2009 Hermann Trophy as college soccer’s top player after her senior season at Stanford University. She finished her college career with 57 goals and 32 assists for 146 points, all school records. As a senior, she had one of the best seasons in Division I history, scoring 26 goals with 13 assists in leading Stanford to an undefeated and untied regular season and into the NCAA title game. She has just five caps for the U.S. team, but has extensive experience with the U.S. youth National Teams, and was one of the USA’s top players at the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Russia. She ended her U-20 international career as one of the USA’s all-time leading scorers at that level with 24 goals in 35 caps.

The FA has announced 30 FA Girls’ Centres of Excellence for season 2011-12.
Having carried out a robust consultation, monitoring, evaluation and review of the previous Girls’ Talent Development programme, The FA will operate 62 Talent Development Centres as opposed to the 50 FA Girls’ Centres of Excellence that have existed previously, and we are pleased to outline the new girls’ elite football pathway which will benefit all areas of the game, but most importantly for the players playing within it.
The new structure will encompass Centres which will be a combination of Player Development Centres and FA Girls’ Centres of Excellence, resulting in a restructure of the current Centres programme. Three brand new Elite Performance Camps will also replace the Regional Talent Camps.
This improved FA Girls’ Talent Development pathway will have long term sustainability, will support the entry route into the Centres at grassroots, develop grassroots clubs at younger age groups and will also provide women’s teams with well educated and better equipped players in all four areas.
Should a talented young girl be unable to attend an FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence due to the travel time and distance, an FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence Director can apply to The FA for special dispensation on the player’s behalf. Further details of what this dispensation entails will be available from your nearest FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence from July 2011.

O.Lyon vence Champions League!
Num ambiente típico inglês o O.Lyon mostrou toda a sua classe ao vencer o Turbine Potsdam por 2-0 vingando assim a derrota na final do ano passado.
O jogo começou com uma grande oportunidade de golo para o Turbin
e. Após um cruzamento de Bajramaj, Isabel Kerschowski remata e proporciona uma grande defesa à g.r. do Lyon.
Mas este lance de perigo inicial não motivou a equipa alemã que não conseguiu segurar o jogo durante os 90 min.
Os vários erros defensivos do Turbine e a forte pressão do Lyon já faziam prever um golo e foi na marcação de um canto que a defesa central Renard abriu o marca
dor aos 27 min. Mesmo assim este golo não pareceu acordar a equipa adversária que chegou ao intervalo em desvantagem.
Na segunda parte o Potsdam mostrou mais atitude e vontade em empatar o jogo. Nos pés de Fatmire Bajramaj aos 57 min e de Anja Mittag aos 61 min. surgiram os lances mais perigosos de golo.

No entanto, o talento de Sonia Bompastor, Elódie Thomis, Louisa Nécib e Lotta Shelin foi demasiado forte para a defesa do Turbine que teve uma noite muito pouco inspirada. Os passes falhados e a má qualidade de jogo abriram alas para lances os vários lances de perigo do Lyon.
Foi então que Lara Dicknemann substituta de Louisa Nécib aos 82 min. fecha o marcador com um golo de grande qualidade.
Com esta vitória o Lyon torna-se a primeira equip

O 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, detentor do troféu, defronta o Olympique Lyonnais pela segunda vez consecutiva na final da UEFA Women's Champions League, esta quinta-feira à noite, em Craven Cottage, Londres.
Há um ano, em Getafe, o Lyon foi a primeira equipa francesa a chegar a esta fase da competição, mas foi derrotada por 7-6 no desempate por grandes penalidades, depois do nulo registado ao cabo de 120 minutos, facto que permitiu ao Potsdam arrecadar o seu segundo título europeu e o sexto de equipas alemãs em nove edições da prova. Esta época, contudo, o Lyon tem-se mostrado irresistível, tendo vencido os 21 jogos da Division 1 Féminine disputados até agora. Desde a final de 2010 chegaram à equipa Camille Abily, Sonia Bompastor e Eugénie Le Sommer, enquanto a melhor marcadora Lotta Schelin, que estava lesionada na final do ano passado, poderá, desta feita, dar o seu contributo às campeãs gaulesas.
O Turbine conquistou em Março o terceiro título consecutivo, mas as jogadoras alemãs da equipa têm-se ausentado frequentemente desde essa altura para servirem a selecção, que prepara a presença no Campeonato do Mundo, por si organizado. The USA and Japan played two matches last week, meeting at Columbus Crew Stadium and on May 18 in Cary, N.C., with the USA coming away with 2-0 wins in both games. Both teams are preparing for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
The May 14 match marked the on-field debut of the new black U.S. WNT jersey. Following the match, the jerseys were washed and each shirt was signed by 20 players and head coach Pia Sundhage.
U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo’s jersey drew the highest winning bid of $3,050, while Tobin Heath’s jersey went for $2,326. Abby Wambach’s jersey was won for $1,250. Every one of the jerseys was sold and went for more than $500.
“It really means a lot that to our team we were able to raise that money for Japan,” said U.S. co-captain Rachel Buehler. “A lot of us have personal ties with players on that team and we have respect and love for them and their culture. It’s great that we were able to come together, us and Japan, to raise the money and make a little bit of a difference. That’s what it’s all about, being able to make a difference in each other’s lives.”
