_Nova Liga Profissional Americana de Futebol em 2013

O Western New York Flash foi o vencedor da última edição da WPS

Uma nova liga profissional nos EUA irá começar em Março do próximo ano, disse o presidente da Federação Norte-Americana, Sunil Gulati, esta quarta-feira.

Desta vez a federação canadiana e mexicana, juntamente com a dos EUA irá financiar os custos das suas jogadoras que irão participar no campeonato.

"Estamos à procura de um modelo económico que seja sustentável" disse Gulati. "Se olharmos para as federações como o governo, estamos a financiar o sector privado para tentar tornar isto sustentável e diminuir os investimentos do sector privado".

A federação americana ira também financiar os custos administrativos da

liga.

As 8 equipas estão sedeadas em Boston, New Jersey, Western New York, Washington D.C, Chicago, Kansas City, Seattle e Portland.

_Sorteada a Fase de Grupos do EURO 2013

A campeã Alemanha vai ter pela frente Holanda, Islândia e a tradicional rival Noruega, segundo ditou o sorteio da fase final do UEFA Women's EURO 2013, realizado em Gotemburgo, numa cerimónia conduzida pelo Secretário-Geral da UEFA, Gianni Infantino, e pelos embaixadores do UEFA Women's EURO 2013, Steffi Jones e Patrik Andersson.

                                       

A anfitriã Suécia defronta a Dinamarca no jogo inaugural, em Gotemburgo, antes de medir forças com Finlândia e Itália, no Grupo A. Entretanto, a França enfrenta a Inglaterra, finalista vencida em 2009, Rússia e Espanha no Grupo C.

Cada grupo vai ser disputado em dois estádios: o Grupo A no Gamla Ullevi (Gotemburgo) e no Örjans Vall (Halmstad), o Grupo B na Växjö Arena (Vaxjo) e na Kalmar Arena (Kalmar), e o Grupo C no Nya Parken (Norrkoping) e na Linköping Arena (Linkoping).

Os dois primeiros classificados de cada grupo, além dos dois melhores terceiros, apuram-se para os quartos-de-final, cujos dois primeiros jogos realizam-se em Halmstad e Vaxjo, a 21 de Julho, seguindo-se os restantes, em Kalmar e Linkoping, no dia seguinte. As meias-finais vão ter lugar a 24 de Julho, em Gotemburgo e, no dia seguinte, em Norrkoping. A final está marcada para domingo, dia 28 de Julho, na nova Friends Arena, em Solna, perto de Estocolmo.

_Stamford Bridge recebe final da Champions Feminina

Stamford Bridge, estádio do Chelsea, vai ser o palco da final da UEFA Women's Champions League a 23 de Maio de 2013 e terá Faye White como embaixadora. 

                                  


O jogo terá lugar dois dias antes da final da UEFA Champions League masculina, agendada para 25 de Maio, sábado, no Wembley Stadium.

O Secretário-Geral da UEFA, Gianni Infantino, afirmou: "A final da UEFA Women's Champions League mostra o que há de melhor no futebol feminino na Europa e Stamford Bridge, casa dos vencedores da UEFA Champions League masculina em 2012, é o palco perfeito para albergar tão prestigiado evento. A UEFA está muito satisfeita por levar a final da UEFA Women's Champions League de volta a Londres para o que, acredita, voltará a ser um evento de grande sucesso".

Ron Gourlay, director-executivo do Chelsea, referiu: "É uma enorme honra para o Chelsea FC ter sido escolhido pela UEFA para receber este jogo. Stamford Bridge já foi palco de grandes jogos de futebol e estamos ansiosos por juntar a final da UEFA Women's Champions League a essa lista."

Embaixadora da final da edição de 2013 da UEFA Women's Champions League, Faye White, defesa do Arsenal LFC e antiga capitã da selecção inglesa, afirmou: "A final da UEFA Women's Champions League é o ponto alto do calendário do futebol europeu feminino e mal posso esperar por vê-la de regresso a Londres."

_Tom Sermanni é o novo seleccionador dos EUA

Sermanni was hired Tuesday to replace Sundhage, who led the Americans to back-to-back Olympic gold medals and their first World Cup final in 12 years. Sermanni has spent the last eight years as Australia's coach, taking the Matildas to the quarterfinals of the last two Women's World Cups.

"He has the knowledge, experience and vision to take on the challenge of keeping our team at the top of the world,'' U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati said in a statement. "He has a tremendous passion for the game, knows the American players, understands our system and knows the process of preparing a team for a World Cup tournament.''

Sermanni, a 58-year-old originally from Glasgow, Scotland, has spent much of the last 20 years in Australia, where he is credited with transforming the Matildas into one of the world's top programs. In addition to their quarterfinal appearances at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, the young Australians won the 2010 Asian Women's Cup. Their runner-up finish at the same tournament in 2006 earned Sermanni Asian Football Confederation coach of the year honors.

Sermanni was selected after a five-person search committee, which included Mia Hamm, considered more than 30 candidates. The current U.S. players said they didn't care whether the new coach was male or female, American or foreign-born, so long as the right coach was selected.

"Someone who's good enough, that's all I care about,'' Abby Wambach said. "Be the person who brings the World Cup back.''

Sundhage was 91-6-10 in her five years with the Americans, including a 23-1-1 record this year, and the U.S. was ranked No. 1 in the world for most of her tenure. She resigned Sept. 1 to return to her native Sweden, where she is now the women's national team coach.

"We need a strong person to come in and add to the history that this team, specifically, has created in the last two years,'' Wambach said. "... This team is scary good, and we need to have someone who can put all the Xs and Os together.''

_Christine Sinclair suspensa por 4 jogos pela FIFA

FIFA opened an investigation into undisclosed events involving Christine Sinclair after Canada lost its semi-final against the United States

Jogadora canadiana foi suspensa, resultado das declarações após o jogo com os EUA nas meias-finais dos Jogos Olímpicos em Londres.

Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair has been suspended for four games and hit with a fine for an undisclosed incident at the London Olympics.

FIFA, the sport’s governing body, opened an investigation in August, after Canada lost a heated semi-final match against the United States, a 4-3 defeat marked by questionable decisions made by Norwegian referee Christiana Pedersen. Several of those decisions enraged Canadian players, including Sinclair.

According to a release distributed Friday by the Canadian Soccer Association, Sinclair was being punished by FIFA “for displaying unsporting behaviour towards match officials after the match.”

It still remains unclear whether that behaviour refers to comments made to reporters after the game, or a different incident away from the notebooks and tape recorders. Sinclair was not the only Canadian player to give voice to the team’s displeasure, especially after Pedersen issued a rarely seen delay of game against goalkeeper Erin McLeod that led to a tying goal.

_Arsenal Ladies conquistam 2º campeonato consecutivo

 

Arsenal Ladies are crowned FA WSL Champions 2012 after their 3-2 home win v Doncaster

A brace of own goals and a Kelly Smith strike helped newly-crowned FA WSL champions Arsenal to a hard-fought victory over Doncaster Rovers Belles at Meadow Park.

Lyndsey Cunningham and Tanya Oxtoby both put the ball into their own net in the first half, while Aine O’Gorman pulled one back for the Yorkshire side with a stunning long-range effort.

However Smith, who had come on as substitute in the second half, capped the victory late on with a typically composed finish, while Belles skipper Leandra Little doubled her side’s tally for the afternoon two minutes from time.
