_Mia Hamm: Sempre uma fã do Roma

Ex- internacional norte-americana e nova directora do A.S. Roma fala do seu novo cargo, dizendo que desde sempre esteve atenta aos resultados da equipa Giallorossi.

Hamm is one of the most successful players in women’s football, having scored 158 goals in 275 caps for the US national team as well as winning two Olympic gold medals.

The former striker was invited to join the Roma board by the club’s American President James Pallotta, after Hamm had spoken about her connection to Rome - her parents moved to the Italian capital after she finished high school, and she used to visit twice a year.

“It was perfect timing because it was during the World Cup there [Italy] in 1990,” Hamm explained to Sports Illustrated.

“Roma was the team I was able to watch on TV all the time when I was there.
“They were the colours I’d see all over the city, and it was one of the clubs I paid attention to in Serie A.”

Pallotta also spoke to Sports Illustrated and praised Hamm’s in-depth knowledge of the sport, insisting she is far more knowledgeable than himself.

“The potential of having Mia on the board of Roma to me was a no-brainer. What she’s forgotten about football over the last 30 years I still have to learn.
