_Estados Unidos...de Ouro!

Os Estados Unidos revalidou esta quinta-feira o título olímpico de futebol feminino, ao vencer o Japão por 2-1, numa final em que demonstrou enorme eficácia. A seleção americana garantiu desta forma a medalha de ouro, repetindo um feito que já tinha alcançado em 2008, em Pequim.

O jogo começou bem e Lloyd abriu o marcador logo aos oito minuto. O Japão, que defende bem e está muito confortável a jogar em contra-ataque, foi obrigado a assumir o comando. As norte-americanas defenderam mais atrás e convidaram o Japão a pegar no jogo, o que naturalmente veio a acontecer.

As japonesas, campeãs mundiais em título, recorde-se, até criaram várias ocasiões de golo, mas decididamente não estiveram bem na finalização: atiraram por exemplo duas bolas à barra. Ora Hope Solo, precisamente, teve um punhado de grandes defesas, a última das quais sob o apito final.

No meio de tudo isto, Lloyd ainda fez o segundo golo dos Estados Unidos, aos 54 minutos, aproveitando o balanceamento ofensivo das japonesas. O Japão não conseguiu melhor do que reduzir, através de um golo de Yuki Ogimi, aos 62 minutos. Foi curto, embora as japonesas tenham ameaçado o empate.

Tukwila, WA – Tukwila - In the first match of the 2012 season, the Seattle Sounders Women amused a near sell-out crowd (154 tickets shy) at Starfire with five goals. The largest crowd in Sounders Women history was on hand to watch the Sounders Women defeat Seattle Pacific University by a score of 5-0.

Lyndsay Patterson started the scoring in the 6th minute with a flick on header off a Tafara Pulse corner kick. Patterson and Pulse are both Sounders veterans.

It took until the last 2 minutes of the first half for the Sounders to link up for a second goal. This time, it was two National Team players, Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux hooking up. Leroux ran down the left channel, before cutting back to the middle. She slipped a ball through to Morgan. On Morgan’s first touch, she drove the ball to the back netting with her left foot.

The second half was a chance for Veronica Perez to shine. The Mexican National Team midfielder created numerous chances for her teammates throughout the game. (...) Perez drilled the shot off the left post and into the goal for a 75th minute goal.

The Sounders would add two more goals from Kara Kuttler and Victoria Frederick in the 78th and 88th minutes. Both goals were helped on by Sydney Leroux who was a handful for the SPU defense all night long.

_Hope Solo e Sydney Leroux assinam pelo Seattle Sounders

RENTON , Wash– The Sounders Women have signed goalkeeper Hope Solo and forward Sydney Leroux, the team announced today.

Solo, 30, is the starting goalkeeper for the United States Women’s National Team. Solo helped lead the women to the FIFA World Cup 2011 Final in Germany and was named the Golden Glove winner of that tournament. She was a member of the 2008 Women’s U.S. Olympic Team that won a gold medal in Beijing and an alternate on the 2004 team in Greece. A native of Richland, Washington, she played for the University of Washington and is a member of the Husky Hall of Fame. Solo is a four-time All-Pac-10 Selection.

“Hope is undoubtedly the best women’s keeper in the game today,” said Sounders General Manager Amy Carnell. “Her signing represents the caliber player Sounders Women’s fans can expect in 2012. As the landscape of women’s soccer continues to evolve, we realize the unique opportunity before us. The addition of Hope Solo and Sydney Leroux sets the tone for what we think will be a very special year for Sounders Women’s soccer.” A prolific scorer with the U.S.

Under-20 Women’s National Team, Leroux earned her first cap as a second-half substitute against Sweden in the Four Nations Tournament in Chingqong, China, on January 21, 2011. During Olympic Qualifying earlier this year, Leroux scored five goals in only her second cap. Leroux played four seasons for UCLA and was named to Soccer America’s MVP First Team in 2010 and 2011. She was born in British Columbia, Canada.

“Sydney is the consummate goal scorer with an incredible attacking attitude,” said Head Coach Michelle French. “She not only shows tireless effort on the offensive side of the ball, but she is very unique in that she prides herself on her defensive recovery and ability to win the ball back. She makes an impact no matter where she plays on the field.”

Solo and Leroux will be available in conjunction with the Olympic Training Camp schedule as the U.S. Women's National Team prepares for the 2012 Olympics in London.

_Hope Solo é eliminada e fica fora da final do ‘Dancing with the stars’

A musa da seleção de futebol dos EUA está fora da final do “Dancing with the stars”, espécie de Dança dos Famosos da tv americana. Hope Solo foi eliminada da competição, após anúncio divulgado na noite da última terça-feira.

Fazendo parceria com Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Hope caiu na semifinal após desempenho pouco convincente no “tango americano”. O time "MarkSolo" obteve notas 8, 8, 8 e 9 dos jurados, ficando abaixo das três duplas finalistas, J.R. Martinez (ator)/Karina Smirnoff, Ricki Lake (atriz e apresentadora)/Derek Hough e Rob Kardashian (modelo e participante de reality show)/Cheryl Burke.

Até chegar à semifinal, Hope solo e o parceiro Maksim Chmerkovskiy passaram por outras sete etapas, abrindo sua participação com uma coreografia inspirada no filme “Toy Story”. A goleira americana vestiu uma fantasia à la Jessie, um dos brinquedos da história.

Num curto comunicado a WPS anunciou que a equipa de Boca Raton não fará parte do grupo de equipas para a época de 2012. Relembro que nesta equipa jogam importantes jogadoras como: Hope Solo, Abby Wambach, Lisa de Vanna, Megan Rapinoe, Shannon Boxx, Sophie Schmidt, entre outras.

Em uma das imagens, Hope está totalmente sem roupa em um jardim, segurando uma mangueira e regando a grama.

No Twitter, a goleira comentou o ensaio, dizendo que a edição deve sair nesta sexta-feira (7), e publicou também uma foto que fez para a capa.

Hope está aproveitando uma "onda de celebridade": apareceu em programas de entrevista nos Estados Unidos, fez comerciais e está participando até de um concurso de dança na televisão.
